Great hotel

In an easily accessible position before entering Folgarida. Location very well preserved / renovated in typical mountain style. Rooms very large and equipped with every comfort. Bathroom a little small compared to the rooms and with curtain instead of shower (only flaw). Friendly staff at all times and always available. Excellent choice in the wine list. Also excellent choice in the menu. Used high quality products for dishes always in the right quantity. A special report to the waiting staff (all good) and the staff in the kitchen who baked all the dishes without ever getting one wrong (very good). Overall excellent value for money. To return definitely.

School Trip

Wasn't sure what to expect with a lack of reviews over the last few years but this place was a fantastic base for a school trip.
We took 53 kids and 8 staff members and all were accommodated superbly. The staff are outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they catered to our every need, including what time we wanted meals, packed lunches for our journey home, change of rooms when needed and any maintenance issues.
The hotel is dated but everything worked, was spotlessly clean and couldn't be faulted. Showers were powerful and warm.
The food was fine despite most of the students not eating much. You ordered your evening meals the night before. Plenty of pasta and meats. There was always a selection of cold vegetables, breads and garlic bread every night. We also ordered pizza in one night which they allowed us to put out in the dining room.
A potential issue is that some of the power sockets didn't take EU plug adaptors. Some did. We found that roughly one out of three did. It was a three pronged all in a line style that was needed.
The bar / lounge made for a great evening base with separate rooms for workshops, quizzes, games or lectures.
The walk to the ski lift and local shops was roughly 10 minutes up the hill.
We went towards the end of the ski season so the hotel was empty apart from us which was a huge benefit. The resort was relatively quiet, with a couple of other schools staying in neighbouring hotels.
Would 100% use this hotel again. Shout out to all the staff who worked that week. Especially Davide who sorted us out in the evenings and enjoyed meeting and chatting to us all.

to improve

we have already stayed at the Gran Baita previously, and we didn't expect much, aware of the fact that it is a somewhat old and average hotel; the staff is very kind and helpful, the food is good with various choices and also options for those with celiac disease, the shuttle service to the ski lift is always on time. we were a little disappointed by the cleanliness of the room: we found cigarette packets and dirt under the beds (not left by us) and hair in the bathroom that wasn't ours, we stayed 3 nights and it had never been cleaned in those areas, moreover the shower is still equipped with a curtain (even the dirty one) very uncomfortable because after taking a shower the bathroom is flooded, the sanitary fixtures are outdated and we had a room with a blind bathroom (without window) and a noisy extractor fan. otherwise it was a nice holiday

Great value for money in Folgarida

We spent one week skiing holidays in this hotel in a friends-and-family group of 10 people (including 4 kids). The service and hospitality was absolutely great, the food was very good. Big plus for the ski shuttle - very frequent and taking you directly to the entrance of cabin lift from the ski room that is on the ground floor (no stairs to walk in ski boots!). It was by far the best setup for skiing I experienced so far in Val di Sole. Honestly the hotel interiors could use some upgrade, especially bathrooms, but everything was very clean and well maintained. Hotel has a lot space to spend time inside (armchairs near the bar, separate lecture/game room, TV room, etc.). It would be great to have some kids-dedicated areas as well, which are not present, apart from billiard table. Overall: very good experience, great value for money.

You have to remember what you paid!

I went to this hotel as part of a group via Brenta Ski. 7 days, flights, ski pass, ski hire, half Board, Single room for under £900pp.
Now it's easy to moan, the rooms are cramped, old TV's and the bathrooms are tired - BUT the water is hot, the radiators keep you warm and the Sauna is great (available after 5pm). You can sleep easily but the beds are hard!
Now the food - well the breakfast is a bit underwhelming as it's all cold apart from the scrambled eggs which are brought out on a hot plate and left to cool and the boiled eggs. If you want hot - get there early!
Dinner is a much better affair and how they do a 4 course menu with 4 choices on each course is beyond me. You will not be hungry here and I washed it down with a bottle of the house Red (12 Euro a bottle) each night which was actually quite nice.
Ski room is unheated and is a cold shed so only good for skis and poles and there is a shuttle bus that takes you to the lift.
In summary - I don't know how they do it all for the price but if you want a good warm hotel where you can sleep and eat well - it's here.
I probably wouldn't bring the family, but for a single skier or friends trip this would work really well
