Interesting experience

The hotel used to be a women's prison. This is also evident from the size of the rooms, around 15 square meters.
The facilities are functional, everything you need.
The staff is very friendly, the manager in particular is very helpful. He offered to drive us around town in his car several times. As we also had people with walking difficulties with us, this was a great thing.
The breakfast could be more varied, it is a bit monotonous.
Overall, a great place to stay, especially the roof terrace.

Partially suitable for disabled people but a unique prison experience!

As a person with no criminal record, I enjoyed 2 days in prison. Even though I'm in a wheelchair, it was possible because the staff were noticeably friendly, helpful and approachable. We, 12 former students over 70, had a great stay. When you consider how you can impress guests with friendliness without spending any extra money, you wonder why it isn't like that everywhere. Although it was completely remodeled and equipped with a glass elevator, the whole thing was very authentic. The row of cells with their heavy doors that slam shut and the spartanly furnished cells were reminiscent of prison life, offset by the friendly service in a rooftop restaurant with a balustrade and a view over the rooftops of the city. You should simply treat yourself to a night in prison.

Even ear plugs did not help.

The hotel messed up badly by having a Nicholas warm up dance on three floors until 3am. Then the door to reception was wedged open with a radio blaring and people talking until 4am when I told them I wanted to sleep. A basic human need.
Yes an interesting concept to use the old jail as a hotel and without disturbances of people also barging into the room it would have been OK. Bed and Breakfast was good.
Suggest when booking you ask if they are having a dance there. Then go elsewhere if you want to actually sleep.

interesting history

The hotel used to be a womans prison which leads to its charm. The rooms are basic yet comfy and clean. However when sharing the room with someone make sure you know them very well as the bathroom has no door and the walls that are up are made of glass so nothing is left to the imagination. the beds are also in the form of bunk beds so request one with twins if you cant cope with small ladders
It is located pretty much centrally in the town so everywhere is easy to get to. I cant comment on the restaurant upstairs as I was there for a wedding party so it was a special breakfast and service. The food however was of high quality and the view from up there was amazing looking out over the city.

Angenehmer Ort für den Aufenthalt in Meiningen

Gute und ruhige Lage am Rande der Altstadt; alle Sehenswürdigkeiten über Fußgängerzonen erreichbar. Modern und solide eingerichtetes Hotel. Das Einzelzimmer ist klein, aber sehr funktionell eingerichtet; neu und guter Standard. Inhaber und Personal sehr freundlich und außergewöhnlich zugewandt und hilfsbereit. Bei einem Aufenthalt in Meiningen würde ich wieder hier wohnen wollen.
