Located in Chernevtsi, 20 km from Etar, Hotel Bozhentsi provides accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Providing a restaurant, the property also has a terrace, as well as an indoor pool and a sauna.

Great facilities, awful staff
It is a shame that such a wonderful place is full of incompetent rude staff. We have stayed there at least 3 times and it gets worse every time. Last time we visited, they started with their attitude even before check-in, trying to convince us not to use a service we paid for just because they did not want to work. There is only one very friendly waiter and if everybody were like him, this would have been the perfect hotel.

Wedding venue
As a more general point, the location is great for meandering down into Bozhentsi village on foot and Gabrovo is no more than fifteen minutes by car. And contrary to common (at least my preconceptions) the roads are easy to navigate. (No potholes unlike back in UK)

Nice hotel with some disadvantages
The hotel looks very nice (inside and outside). They have invested really a lot to make beautiful hotel building, public areas and guest rooms. Everything is created with high quality materials and style. The hotel lobby is beautiful and cozy, the restaurant is nice, and the double room - spacious enough. There is no mini bar but they offer a bottle of mineral water in the room as a compliment.
We stayed in November. The hotel was very well heated, especially the guest room and the indoor swimming pool.
However, I would like to draw the attention of the future visitors to some weaknesses of this hotel:
- First - the cleanliness. I was really amazed by the cleaning of the room on our second day. The only thing, they did, was to take out the rubbish. They did not even order the towels and sheets. I have travelled a lot- in Bulgaria and aboard, but I have never seen such superficial cleaning of room. Some of the public areas were also not well maintained (e.g. the outdoor playground and the swimming pool area).
- The breakfast was nothing special. There was no variety of bread, the juice was awful.
- The service in the restaurant does not correspond to the lovely restaurant atmosphere. Forget about any wine service etiquette. The dress code of the waiters is ridiculous – every waiter wearing a different outfit; they were not polite enough except for the slightly elder man serving during breakfast.
At the time we stayed there was a conference at the hotel and all the efforts of the personnel were directed to them. They organized a special dinner for the people from the conference in the same restaurant and at the same time with the other guests. It was a loud DJ party disturbing the other guests and nobody even apologized for the inconvenience.
The position of the hotel is not bad at all. It is surrounded by beautiful forest and it is only 2 km away from the architectural reserve Bozhentsi.
If you are looking for the taste of the traditional Bulgarian cuisine, you better try the meals of some restaurants in the village.
All in all I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend some nights in this area. There is no big choice of hotels nearby and this is probably the best there is at all.
