Thousand Lakes Lodge

The experience was fantastic… Bec, the very personable host, was exceptional, warm and welcoming.
Bec and the team made sure everyone’s experience and expectations were surpassed.
The evening experience, from the lounge after dinner, watching the wildlife, Tassie Devils, Wallabies, Wombats and those Quolls… brilliant..
Exceptional food, wines, spirits and beers…
The accommodations were excellent, amenities and everything was great.
A fantastic place to relax and enjoy great company, walks or just chilling.
My highest recommendation….

An unexpected highlight to our Tasmanian Trip

We had an amazing few days off the grid exploring the wonderful landscape of the Central Plateau of Tasmania thanks to 1000 Lakes Lodge. The accommodation and meals were above our expectations and Bec went way above and beyond. She's so generous with her time, knowledge and skills (including taking aurora photos for us!) We were given delicious picnic lunches as we explored the local walks, and the gorgeous shack on the secluded beach. The wild animals and landscape are so well respected and taken care of for us all to enjoy. This stay was an unexpected highlight to our trip. Highly recommend a visit. We'll definitely be back!

Perfect stay in the Heart of Tasmania

An amazing place to get off the grid, unwind and explore the unique alpine landscape of the Central Plains Conservation Area. Nicknamed the “Heart of Tasmania,” I am so glad we visited here. The lodge is nicely I integrated into the landscape and you don’t have to go far to see amazing wildlife- quolls, Tasmanian devils and wallabies! The amenities were far beyond my expectation for a lodge. Bec helped us individualize our stay so I could stay in and be cozy in the library while reading about Tasmanian culture and history while my partner went trout fishing in glacial lakes all around the region. There are many beautiful walks to enjoy and great places to sit and draw too. Picnic lunches and meals were great. Wonderful wines, whiskeys and coffee too!

One night in clear night sky and wildlife paradise

We had a terrific time in the Thousand Lake Lodge. Beautifully located in the middle of nowhere, amazing for clear night sky and wildlife lovers ! Do not hesitate to adventure outside of the lodge at sunset/night with one of the maglights and a very wam coat put at your disposition! Or just enjoy the wildlife from the main living area.
We were welcomed by Bec who gave us tips to better discover the area and Tasmania in general. Thank you again Bec for making our stay so special :)

A unique & special place

We knew within 30 mins this place was something special & we needed to stay longer than our one night booking. The lodge was exactly what we’d hoped for and Becs warm welcome, vast knowledge & passion for the raw beauty of the area, made it all the more memorable. We felt spoilt but ‘at home’ in the best way during our 2 night stay & it was definitely hard to leave.

Lake Augusta Road is approximately 13k of gravel road from the Highland Lakes Road (A5), up to the Lodges remote location within the Central Plateau Conservation Area. Because of the Lodges location within the Tasmanian World Heritage Wilderness Area, there is limited phone coverage. There is no WiFi. Rooms are not equipped with Televisions. Television is located in the guest lounge. We kindly advise that due to our Licensing, only food and beverages provided by the Lodge are permitted on the Lodge premises.
