Breakfast was nowhere near as good as the fairfield inns but it was free.
I would stay if the price remained the same but would probably try somewhere else next time.
I saw they were renovating so maybe things will change.
I usually stay at the Fairfield Inn Portland Airport just a few mins away but thought I'd switch it up and try hampton inn for the first time.

A Truly Dismal Experience – Avoid at All Costs
Upon arrival, we were refused check-in at 1 PM, despite having a legitimate reason—we were in town for a funeral and needed to change. The front desk staff showed no empathy whatsoever. Miraculously, after calling the Diamond Desk (since rooms were available), a room suddenly appeared. Imagine that.
Once inside, the sleeping area was relatively clean, but the bathroom was disgusting. The bathtub looked like it hadn’t been touched in days, and the soap dish still had baked-on soap residue from the previous guest. Clearly, this room had been sitting in its filth for quite some time. We informed the front desk via their usual text system, only to be met with indifference. Their response: How Would You Rate Your Stay from 1-5. The agent’s name was Hanna, who really didn’t care.
If that wasn’t enough, the check-out process was just as unpleasant. We requested a noon check-out, a simple and common courtesy for elite Hilton members, but were flatly denied. “It’s 11, and we won’t do it,” was the blunt response.
To top it all off, the area outside the back door was practically a designated drug zone. Guests were openly smoking pot, and the smell wafted into the elevator lobby, making it an incredibly unpleasant environment.
As a Hilton Diamond for Life, I expected much better. This hotel is a disgrace to the Hilton brand. Save yourself the trouble and stay at one of the other Hilton properties nearby. This was an absolute nightmare.
