We were welcomed with a very friendly front office. They told us all the great extras we could have and upgraded our room for us! The Bar are was super cool and fun to sit in and have a drink!

Good location and very good service but food is average at best

Overall this hotel is very clean and in a good location . It’s about a 20 min walk to the main commercial square next to the river.
The breakfast staff are excellent . Very attentive and friendly . The breakfast buffet is wide ranging and includes things like bacon and beans which were cold. You can order hot food from the staff but there is no menu ) why not have a menu !). The hot food takes about 15 mins to arrive even when there is very few people at breakfast and it tends to be lukewarm.
We attended a jazz concert in the library on the Friday night which was excellent ! It finished at about 9.15 and we were incentivised to go into the hotel restaurant with a 20 per cent discount . Unfortunately service was very slow both to take our order and to bring it . We ended up eating our main course at 10.30 pm which was just too late for us . We both had steak which was also luke warm . My husband ordered his steak medium rare but it was medium . The bernaise sauce was vinegary. We felt it was too late to say anything given the time and the long wait .
There was a group of young men at at table near to us and they were very shouty so we asked to be moved to a quieter table
The manager of the hotel was sat at a table near to ours and annoyingly he decided to watch reels on his phone with the sound turned up . I thought this to be surprising and unprofessional.
This hotel has a problem delivering hot food for some reason .
The hotel restaurant is not to be recommended in my view . There are nice places in the town

Lovely hotel

Gorgeous hotel and great value for money - we did travel in March so out of season but regardless, we stayed in a lovely suite room and breakfast was included in the rate. Big shoutout to the breakfast staff who couldn't be more attentive or friendly. The food served at breakfast was delicious and lots to choose from. The library room was a lovely space and the location of the hotel was great - felt like you were still near everything but also far away from the madness so felt calm and chilled. The lovely avenue with all of the designer shops etc was a great plus - lovely place to walk out to on a morning. The only slight downside I would say is that a few of the reception staff were slightly stand off ish - not super helpful when asking for city recommendations and when checking out - didn't really check if we had enjoyed our stay - but the doorman was lovely! Regardless, would still again due to the location, overall service and standard of the rooms.

Superb hotel!

We were a mixed group of family & friends gathering prior to going on a cruise to celebrate a big birthday. Everything about the hotel is absolutely perfect, the location, ambiance, decor, comfort, food & beverage offerings.
However the very best thing about it is the staff!! They are super friendly while being most professional nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a very stressful situation when my husband realised he had left his bag at the hotel when we were boarding the ship but a phone call to Miguel soon had the matter resolved with him putting it in a taxi for us to collect with the help of the port manager.
We have to thank & mention Marcia, Joanna, Rui & Tiago at the bar for making our stay so memorable we hope we can come back one day!

Don't miss a Say at Browns Avenue Hotel.

Hotel very central and all places are very walkable. The Room was very spacious and bed very comfortable. Service was excellent at the restaurant. Breakfast was very good and they very happy to please you with anything extra. Thanks Marcia, Joana, Tiago and Rui for starting our day beautifully.
Reception staff, the ladies and the guys so helpful. Making our trips & dinner reservations and all best recommendations. Miguel thanks you are amazing. Thanks to the Team of Brown Avenue Hotel for the champagne for my birthday. Made me feel special.
