Not recommended unless it’s on at least a 50% promo
We chose this hotel only because it’s very near to the improv festival venue, a short 10mins walk along the super dusty and dirty E Rodriguez Sr. Ave and there was a 50% discount on Agoda.
1) I was given a room on the second floor, it was simple and clean with a fridge, though with certain things missing but it was fine as I could just ask for it. After dumping my stuff, went for dinner and came back to the room to shower but there was no water. I called front desk and they replied, “Sorry mam, water shortage.” They then kept quiet so I went downstairs and complained. Manager came and said she just checked the water tank and there is water but I told her the taps are on but dry! She asked another staff to follow me up to check as if I was lying and when it’s proven that what I said was true, I lost my temper and requested to change my room but the staff said she has to ask manager. So finally the almighty manager moved her butts to come and check, she came and turned a knob under the sink and tadah! water came flowing through! It’s obvious that she knows how to resolve the issue but just thought that she could leave it turned off if I did not kick up a fuss.
That’s the first night.
2) Second night was ok, shower was working though it’s super slow but at least there is water for washing up. Maybe because that was my birthday!
3) Third night went back after show and some drinks, way past midnight, no water again! This time I tried the knob myself but to no avail so I called the front desk and the manager came to check again and there is totally no water so she again said, “Sorry mam, water shortage.” But with an extra information— “After 10pm we shut down water, mam.” And I really blew my top, told her that I want to shower and she better find a way for me, not to tell me water shortage and expect me to sleep without showering, changing and brushing my teeth!
Finally she said the third floor which is the level my team mate is staying has water (wow! So we paid the same amount but I am affected by the “10pm water cutoff time” whereas my Friend is not? Am I of a lower class so there is no water for me and I should be ok with it?), because water pressure is better on the higher levels and asked me to go up to shower. I told her to just change the room since I still got two nights here and I don’t want to keep going up to shower every night. So finally she moved me to the 3rd floor.
4) Shower was great! But the cons are, no fridge, the power point is under the dressing table which made it impossible to to use the kettle while it sits on the table and the staff actually suggest for me to boil my water on the floor under the desk!? She said there is no extension so that’s the only way and I had to tell her to get me a chair which is a better idea than to put on the floor. The worst has yet to come — the toilet flush is kaputt!!! (Meaning broken in English) I found that out the next morning when I had to use the bathroom yeeewww!
Yes!! And on the way out that morning 7:30am I told them to fix it, but it’s not done when I came back at 5:30pm!
Again I called the front desk but this time an officer-in-charge called Abby responded and immediately came up to try to fix it with a staff member of the housekeeping but she got the plumber to fix the toilet once she knows it’s not possible and she kept apologising. Abby even squat down to clean up the wet toilet floor after the plumber is done. The housekeeping guy only went to get the towels and tissues to pass it to her but he stood there watching for the longest time before wiping a couple of strokes(yes I mean it — literally two strokes). The other gal who came up with Abby just stood there the whole time, never offers to help at all.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone but thanks to Abby at least I got a toilet to use on the last day at this hotel.
