Monica’s B&B From Hell

BEWARE! First of all it is NOT a B&B. Apparently they don’t know what the second B means. 2 positives, it is near railway station and owner’s husband did respond quickly. That’s it.
We were given keys to street gate and door to building however neither was ever locked. Apartment on 5th floor, lighting dim, lights over sink in bath did not work. NO amenities at all not even a box of tissues. Cleaning supplies, vacuum, broom, mop, etc left in plain view in kitchen and hallway. Could not lock one of the doors to our side of apartment so didn’t feel secure. Shower access so narrow my 9 year old granddaughter had trouble getting into it.
Mosquitos were an issue in bedroom and we all were bitten. Smashed mosquitos on the bedroom walls from previous guests. Excuse is that it’s near the sea but it’s March, we did not open windows and we heard buzzing all night long. Told to address mosquitos with provided Raid. Not a great solution in my opinion.
The noise from the upstairs neighbors was unbelievable and went on all night long, yelling, screaming, throwing objects. No sleep at all. Can’t even describe it. When we addressed this issue we were told they couldn’t help what the neighbors do. Then maybe not a good place for guests to stay? In addition, beds were not comfortable.
Heat issues on night 2, we were freezing. Had our jackets on. Apparently they turn heat off somehow. Instructions were to turn the A/C unit on??? We were at a disadvantage not knowing how systems work in Italy. We requested he had to come and address this and then the story changed and we were told heat would be working soon. It finally did. Confusing. Thermostat was locked so we couldn’t adjust it ourselves.
It was a terrible and I would not wish this experience on anyone else. I have rented on VRBO, Trip Advisor, Air B&B, Booking.com both here and in Europe so I’m not a novice. Some places are great, some good, some fair but this one was hell.
I contacted the owner and requested a refund for 1 night and she told me she was “offended” by my words like deplorable, no obscenities, and to have a safe journey home. We would not have stayed the second night but were unable to secure another lodging on short notice. We left early the next morning. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.
It was expensive $103 euros for what was provided which was mosquitos, dim lighting, noisy neighbors, heat issues, etc.
It was deplorable, sub standard and the worst place I have ever stayed. Please look at the photos and comments on them.

The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and if you just want to sleep in a quiet room there is nothing wrong with it. The key to enter the floor was difficult to use and I had to work very hard to open the floor door. That's the only negative. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about.

The location is convenient for the train station, and the price is good, but you already knew that. We stayed one night. Check-in was initially difficult. The process involves remote opening of door and gate via an intercom. It didn't work. We needed to call the phone number provided. Once we gained access to the room, we quickly noticed that it was filthy. The bin was full. It hadn't been cleaned. The person on the end of the phone said there was a problem with the cleaning company. I twice asked how long it would take and received no answer. The cleaner arrived 2 hours later. We sat in the (uncomfortably hot) communal kitchen area. The room itself is OK, though in need of refurbishment. The cleaner did a good job. The AC is not very effective, so it was too hot in the night. This review gained a star because we were allowed to check out a little late.

Old uncomfortable beds...You have to get a newer bed..i actually can feel the springs in my back when i slept.
