Surprisingly good experience

Great value for money. Has just returned from a weekend stay at the hotel. Everything played from booking to very late check-in Friday night. Professional and friendly service, good rooms, with good beds and lovely breakfast. Running from the stay with the decision that the place should be re-visited.

Please read this before you book!

This is NO way near a 4 star hotel!
A standard basic 2 star motel is more accurate description of this place.
Not at all worth the price!
The worst thing was the bugs!
I killed 3 during my one night stay and I still have nightmares imagining bugs creeping on me while sleeping.
Mold in the bathroom.
Old dirty, scratched glass in bathroom.
Bathroom door was dirty with old thootpaste stains.
No toiletteries at all.
No water pressure from shower.
No fridge.
Bed mattress needs to be changed, worn out with a hole in the middle.
Duvet was full of chunks of filling, you can feel it’s old.
Only a few danish TV channels.
No reception after 20.00.
You can hear the neighbours.
Breakfast very basic, no orange juice and very little to choose from.
I wish I had read the reviews before I booked this ”hotel”.
I hope other guests doesn’t get scammed and dissapointed in the future.

Dear Claudia.
Thank you for your response.
I am very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at our hotel.
Regarding the bugs, that you had to kill - at this time of the year spiders’ tent to seek inside. Unfortunately, we can't do much about that.
We have soap in the bathroom, which is required to be a 4-star hotel. The other things you need, you must bring yourself. I am sorry that the cleaning wasn't good, and we will take that to our housekeeping, because that is not our standard. The very scratchy glass is also not okay, and we will talk with our housekeeping regarding that as well.
We don't have fridges in our rooms, and under the describing of the room, it does not say anything about a fridge in the room.
It is the first time we have heard about mattresses and duvets. We checked in the room, but we didn’t find anything abnormal or different with the mattress and duvet.
When the reception closes, it is always possible to get in touch with somebody at the hotel. From the reception closes until 23.00, there is a waiter and after 23.00 there is a night porter. The phone numbers are on a sign at the reception on the counter.
I am sorry to hear that our breakfast buffet didn’t live up to your expectations. We have as a sustainable hotel, chosen not to have orange juice.
Best regards

Really worth a (many) visit!!

I drive as an installor and in this connection, it happens that overnight stays comes to mind.
That’s why I visit a lot of hotels around the country.
I just had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at:
Frederik VI's Hotel in Odense, Rugårdsvej 590, 5210 Odense.
The company I drive for had booked room for me there, as the other hotels were too expensive. From the name of the hotel, I had imagined an older rustic building, with steep sloping stairs, gobelins on the walls and a slightly old worn hotel. Let me just clarify, my expectations were set very low!
When expectations are low, there is obviously not much to surprise one – and I was surprised!!
First of all, the hotel is very killer and with plenty of good free P-Plates. There is a really cozy atmosphere with plenty of “air” in the hallways.
They have a gym, but it's nothing big. There's a crosstrainer, a suit bike and a bench as well as some handweights, but it's there.
There is a truly atmospheric bar, with billiards, pool tables, table tennis and all-world dice games. Really nice!
There are several coffee machines, with free coffee, which is actually really good, for free use around the clock.
The room is also very nice. The shower has some lovely soft rays, not caly as they are unfortunately in many places. However, the glass wall for the shower is very close to the toilet, so there is not much space. Here is a large flat-screen TV with attached google chromecast (but lack instructions for the remote control), dryer, ironing board, iron, make-up mirror, and it's as it should be. However, I missed a little mini fridge.
The bed is good to sleep in and the duvet was of the really good kind! Here is a good desk and good windows with tilt function. Overall a lovely room!
The best of the place is their fantastic restaurant. Here you get really spoiled. There's the ketchup for the dishes and it can be tasted. That they didn't get a Michelin Ace I don't understand. They get without blinking a Steen Ace and also like 3 stars!
There are a lot of waiters and they are all really dedicated and you can notice that they put an honor in informing the guests about the taste experience they face.
In addition, they have a very good knowledge of wines and understand to offer the right wines for the selected menu. It's not something you often see in a hotel.
A small minus of the hotel is that the reception closes at 19 o’clock, so it’s nice to have a 24-hour reception if you urgently need help. Conversely, it is also a cost, which there is only one to pay, so I can live with it.
There is disability friendly as there are sliding doors and rooms in ground floor, so just think it is important to inform about this as there is no elevator to the rooms on the 1st floor. Both the bar and the fitness room are located in the basement, so right here it can be a bit difficult to get down, but there are plenty of cozy lounges on the ground floor, where you can also enjoy a refreshment.
I’ll say it’s one of the best hotels I’ve been to in Denmark, so if you’re thinking about where to stay and eat in Odense, I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I have done!

Nice stay

Friendly reception, fine suite overlooking the garden, peaceful place we had ordered and paid through small Danies, practice we were not aware/was made aware that it was possible to use benefit points for payment of wine upon check-out. Half board, good food. Nice with free coffee/the and fruit. I'd love to come back.
